Statement by the Syrian British Consortium
The Syrian British Consortium extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and to all Syrians, both within the country and abroad.
The Consortium unequivocally condemns the grave violations that have come to light following the withdrawal of military forces from Suwayda province. These acts constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes, and all those responsible must be held to account without exception.
The Consortium expresses deep concern over the forced displacement of Bedouin tribes by unlawful militias operating in the city of Suwayda. It warns that the continuation of such practices risks dragging the country into a vicious cycle of violence and bloodshed.
The Syrian British Consortium calls on all parties to the conflict to avoid any further hostilities, and underscores the urgent need to grant full and unhindered access to civil society organisations, enabling them to fulfil their humanitarian role in delivering relief and medical assistance to affected civilians.
The Consortium affirms that dialogue and negotiation-free from external interference, particularly the ongoing, destabilising Israeli involvement, which contravenes international norms — represent the only viable path to ending the bloodshed and reaching a political settlement that ensures the creation of an inclusive and unified nation for all Syrians.
It further urges all stakeholders to avert further losses which have weighed heavily on the Syrian people over the past fourteen years — socially, economically, and in humanitarian terms.
