SBC Condemns Repeated Israeli Incursions

The Syrian British Consortium (SBC) Condemns Repeated Israeli Incursions into Daraa and Quneitra and Calls for Respect for Syria’s Sovereignty

The SBC strongly condemns the repeated Israeli military incursions into the governorates of Daraa and Quneitra, which constitute a clear violation of Syria’s sovereignty and international law, while further exacerbating instability and insecurity in southern Syria.

On Sunday, 28 June 2026, Israeli forces reportedly advanced into the countryside of Daraa and established a temporary military checkpoint. According to documentation by the Sijil Initiative, these violations formed part of a broader pattern of military activity in Daraa and Quneitra, including cross-border incursions, artillery shelling, and the establishment of military checkpoints. These actions have caused widespread fear among local civilians and prompted the displacement of residents.

The SBC is deeply concerned by the continuation of these military operations and the escalating pattern of violations, which threaten civilian safety, undermine regional stability, and contravene the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

The SBC calls upon the UK Government to unequivocally condemn Israel’s continued military incursions into Syrian territory and the violations of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The UK should use its diplomatic influence to press for full compliance with international law, the UN Charter, and the relevant international agreements.

The SBC further urges the UK to work closely with its international partners to secure the immediate cessation of all military actions that endanger civilians, and risk further destabilisation of an already fragile region. We also call for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Syrian territory occupied since the fall of the Asad regime.

The SBC reaffirms its commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, and stands with many Syrians in their refusal to accept any legitimisation of the continued occupation of Syrian territory.
