Call to Protect Civilians and Preserve Civil Peace in Suwayda and Across Syria
With the recent escalation of tensions in Suwayda Governorate, which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 people from the Druze and Bedouin communities- alongside unclear reports regarding casualties among internal security forces- the Syrian British Consortium calls on all Syrians to work jointly and effectively to preserve civil peace, exercise restraint, and refrain from tribal or sectarian rhetoric or actions.
Emotional and reactionary responses place additional burdens on the state’s ability to maintain security and lead to further loss of life on all sides, at a time when unity and cooperation are urgently needed to achieve peace and stability amid the immense challenges facing the country.
The Syrian British Consortium also calls on the Syrian government to fully commit to safeguarding the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of all Syrian citizens, without discrimination based on sect or ethnicity.
The path to building a unified and just Syria must be grounded in the rule of law, equality, and an unwavering rejection of violence and all forms of sectarianism.
In this context, it is essential for the state to control the proliferation of weapons and strengthen security measures across the country, while moving toward an inclusive political process rooted in genuine national dialogue that ensures the representation of diverse perspectives in shaping Syria’s future.
We reaffirm our commitment to the unity of Syrian territory, the preservation of its national sovereignty, and the right of all Syrians to live in safety, peace, and dignity.

دعوة لحماية المدنيين والحفاظ على السلم الأهلي في السويداء وعموم سوريا
مع تصاعد التوتر في محافظة السويداء خلال الأيام الماضية، والذي أسفر عن مقتل ما يقرب من 100 شخص من أبناء الطائفة الدرزية والبدو، إلى جانب الغموض المحيط بعدد الضحايا في صفوف قوات الأمن الداخلي، يدعو المجلس جميع السوريين إلى العمل بشكل مشترك وفعّال من أجل الحفاظ على السلم الأهلي وضبط النفس، والابتعاد عن الخطابات أو الأفعال ذات الطابع القبلي أو الطائفي، إذ إن ردود الفعل الانفعالية تُلقي بأعباء إضافية على الدولة في مجال حفظ الأمن، وتؤدي إلى خسائر بشرية من مختلف الأطراف، في وقت نحن فيه بأمسّ الحاجة إلى تضافر الجهود لتحقيق السلام والاستقرار، في ظل التحديات الهائلة التي تواجه البلاد.
كما يدعو المجلس السوري البريطاني الحكومة السورية إلى الالتزام الكامل بحماية سلامة وكرامة وحقوق جميع المواطنين السوريين الأساسية، دون تمييز على أساس الطائفة أو العرق.
إن الطريق نحو بناء سوريا موحّدة وعادلة يجب أن يستند إلى سيادة القانون، والمساواة، والرفض القاطع للعنف والطائفية بكافة أشكالها.
وفي هذا السياق، من الضروري أن تضبط الدولة انتشار السلاح وتعزز من مستويات الأمن في جميع أنحاء البلاد، مع السعي نحو عملية سياسية شاملة مرتكزة على حوار وطني حقيقي، يضمن تمثيل مختلف وجهات النظر في صياغة مستقبل سوريا.
نجدد تأكيدنا على ضرورة الحفاظ على وحدة الأراضي السورية وسيادتها الوطنية، وصون حق جميع السوريين في العيش بأمن وسلام وكرامة.
