SBC is Welcoming the Aleppo Ceasefire & Reaffirming Syria’s Unity and Sovereignty
The Syrian British Consortium (SBC) welcomes the ceasefire announced today by the Syrian Government in Aleppo following clashes with armed groups that were controlling the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighbourhoods. This development represents an important step toward protecting civilian lives, enabling the safe return of displaced people to their homes and communities, and preserving Syria’s social fabric.
SBC further renews its call for the preservation of Syria’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. This includes the disarmament of all non-state armed actors, the confinement of weapons exclusively to legitimate state institutions, and the full implementation and adherence to the March 2025 Agreement signed between the Syrian Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces. These measures remain fundamental pillars for achieving lasting peace and stability in the country.
Throughout this difficult and sensitive period in Syria’s history, we call on all parties to always prioritise diplomatic and peaceful solutions that safeguard the lives of Syrians, rather than military solutions which fuel violence and deepen divisions—outcomes from which civilians continue to suffer most.
Moreover, while SBC commends efforts to protect civilians—particularly from the Syrian Government—amid the armed clashes witnessed in Aleppo, we stress the imperative of holding all perpetrators of crimes and violations against civilians accountable, ensuring justice and preventing impunity. We further affirm the unity and equal citizenship of the Syrian people and reject division or hate speech directed towards any Syrian group within Syria’s diverse social fabric.
Finally, SBC calls upon all international stakeholders—particularly the United Kingdom—to facilitate and intensify efforts to exert pressure toward the full implementation of the March 2025 Agreement, thereby contributing to Syria’s path toward a safer and more stable future under the framework of a unified Syrian state.

بيان ترحيب بوقف إطلاق النار والتأكيد على وحدة وسيادة سوريا
يرحب المجلس السوري البريطاني بإعلان وقف إطلاق النار الصادر عن الحكومة السورية في مدينة حلب اليوم، عقب الاشتباكات مع المجموعات المسلحة التي كانت تسيطر على حيّي الشيخ مقصود والأشرفية. ويمثل هذا التطور خطوة مهمة نحو حماية أرواح المدنيين، وإتاحة العودة الآمنة للنازحين إلى منازلهم ومجتمعاتهم، والحفاظ على النسيج المجتمعي السوري
ويجدد المجلس السوري البريطاني دعوته إلى الحفاظ على السيادة الوطنية السورية وسلامة أراضيها. ويشمل ذلك نزع سلاح جميع الأطراف غير الشرعية وخارج إطار الدولة، وحصر السلاح بيد مؤسسات الدولة الشرعية، والتنفيذ الكامل والالتزام التام باتفاق آذار 2025 الموقّع بين الحكومة السورية وقوات سوريا الديمقراطية. وتبقى هذه التدابير ركائز أساسية لتحقيق السلام والاستقرار الدائمين في البلاد
وفي ظل هذه المرحلة الصعبة والحساسة من تاريخ سوريا، يدعو المجلس السوري البريطاني جميع الأطراف إلى إعطاء الأولوية الدائمة للحلول الدبلوماسية والسلمية التي تحمي حياة السوريين، بدلاً من الحلول العسكرية التي تغذي العنف وتعمّق الانقسامات، وهي نتائج لا يزال المدنيون يتحملون العبء الأكبر منها
كما يثني المجلس السوري البريطاني على الجهود المبذولة لحماية المدنيين، ولا سيما من قبل الحكومة السورية، في خضم الاشتباكات المسلحة التي شهدتها حلب، ويؤكد في الوقت ذاته على ضرورة محاسبة جميع مرتكبي الجرائم والانتهاكات بحق المدنيين، وضمان تحقيق العدالة ومنع الإفلات من العقاب. ويؤكد المجلس كذلك على وحدة الشعب السوري والمواطنة المتساوية والمتكافئة بين جميع أبنائه، ويرفض أي خطاب تقسيمي أو تحريضي أو كراهية موجهة ضد أي مكوّن سوري ضمن النسيج الاجتماعي المتنوع لسوريا
وأخيراً، يدعو المجلس السوري البريطاني جميع الفاعلين الدوليين، وبشكل خاص المملكة المتحدة، إلى تيسير وتعزيز الجهود الرامية إلى ممارسة الضغط من أجل التنفيذ الكامل لاتفاق آذار 2025، بما يسهم في توجيه سوريا نحو مستقبل أكثر أمناً واستقراراً، في إطار دولة سورية موحدة
