Statement of Condolence and Condemnation
The Syrian British Consortium extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the heinous terrorist attack that targeted worshippers at Mar Elias Church in the Dweila district of Damascus. This brutal assault claimed the lives of numerous innocent civilians and left many others injured.
This appalling act constitutes a flagrant violation of civil peace and poses a grave threat to the safety and security of all Syrians, irrespective of their background or beliefs. The Consortium unequivocally condemns the targeting of places of worship and worshippers- an act that stands in stark opposition to the fundamental values of humanity and peaceful coexistence.
We call upon all Syrians to uphold national unity and to reject all forms of hate speech and incitement. Such rhetoric plays a destructive role in fuelling division and undermining the social fabric of our society at a time when solidarity is most urgently needed.
The Syrian British Consortium also urges the Syrian Interim Government and all relevant authorities to intensify efforts to safeguard civilians and protect religious sites from future threats and violence.
Targeting civilians is an indefensible crime- but the deliberate targeting of houses of worship and those within them adds a particularly reprehensible dimension to such atrocities.
May the souls of the martyrs rest in peace. We pray for strength and solace for their families and loved ones, and a swift and full recovery for the wounded.
Mercy to the martyrs, comfort to their families, and healing to the injured.

بيان تعزية بيان تعزية وإدانة
يتقدم المجلس السوري البريطاني بأحر التعازي إلى أهالي ضحايا الهجوم الإرهابي الذي استهدف المصلين في كنيسة مار إلياس في منطقة الدويلعة بدمشق، والذي أسفر عن سقوط عشرات الأبرياء بين قتيل وجريح.
إن هذا العمل يشكل اعتداءً على السلم الأهلي، ويهدد أمن وأمان السوريين جميعًا دون استثناء. ويؤكد المجلس أن استهداف دور العبادة والمصلين عمل مدان بكل المعايير.
ويدعو المجلس السوريين إلى التمسك بالوحدة الوطنية، ونبذ كل أشكال خطاب الكراهية والتحريض، لما لذلك من دور خطير في زعزعة الاستقرار وتعميق الانقسامات داخل المجتمع السوري.
كما يطالب المجلس الحكومة السورية المؤقتة والجهات المعنية بتعزيز الجهود الرامية إلى حماية المدنيين ودور العبادة من أي تهديدات مستقبلية.
يؤكد المجلس أن استهداف المدنيين هو عمل مدان فكيف باستهداف دور العبادة والمصلينرحم الله الشهداء، وألهم ذويهم الصبر والسلوان، وشفى الجرحى.
الرحمة للشهداء والصبر والسلوان لأهلهم وأحبابهم والشفاء للمصابين.
