Hamish Falconer MP & Angeliki Stogia MP meet Syrian community members in Manchester

The Syrian British Consortium was pleased to coordinate a meeting between members of the Syrian community in Manchester and Hamish Falconer MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan at the FCDO, as well as Labour parliamentary candidate for Gorton and Denton, Angeliki Stogia.

The discussion revolved around some of the priority issues for the Syrian community, including sanctions and economic recovery, Israeli aggression, the agreement between the government and the SDF, equal citizenship, Al-Hol camp, and immigration issues facing Syrians in the UK. The MPs listened attentively to the interventions and contributions of the community members and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to Syria’s unity, territorial integrity, stability, and equal citizenship.

The Syrian participants in the meeting represented partner Syrian organisations with diverse experience, including Rethink Rebuild Society, Action for Humanity, and the Syrian British Academic Association, in addition to Syrians participating in their individual capacities.

Thank you to the office of Afzal Khan MP for facilitating this meeting.
