Success! Omar Aroub will not Attend 2024 Paris Olympics

Updated: Dec 5, 2024

SBC’s Investigations Team was informed by the International Olympic Committee that Omar Aroub, former member of the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS) and suspected war criminal, does not have accreditation to attend the summer 2024 Paris Olympics. Aroub was originally scheduled to attend the Olympics as the Vice President of the Syria General Sports Federation and the Chairman of the Syrian Paralympic Committee.

This news comes at the back of a public campaign pushed by SBC and partners The Syria Campaign and Action for Sama. Over 7,000 people worldwide signed a public petition urging the International Olympic Committee to deny Aroub’s presence at the Olympics. International events should not be used as a platform to polish the regime’s image.
